Don’t Let Your Trademark Expire: Renew on Time!
Your valuable trademark registration in Malaysia has a lifespan of 10 years from its initial filing date. To ensure continued protection for your brand, timely renewal is crucial.
Renewing Your Trademark:
- Renewal Deadline: Renew your trademark registration before its 10-year expiration date by submitting Form TME1 and paying the prescribed fee of RM1,000.00.
- Benefits of Timely Renewal: Successful renewal extends your exclusive trademark rights for another 10 years, safeguarding your brand identity and market position.
Missed the Renewal Deadline?
- Grace Period: Don’t panic if you miss the renewal deadline. A grace period of 6 months is available. You can still renew by submitting Form TME2 and paying a late fee of RM1,200.00.
- Restoration Option: If you miss both the renewal deadline and the grace period, your trademark registration will be removed from the register. However, you may be able to request restoration within 6 months of removal by submitting Form TME3 and paying a restoration fee of RM1,500.00.
Consequences of Non-Renewal:
Failure to renew your trademark within the prescribed deadlines can have serious consequences. Your trademark registration will cease, and others may be able to register and use your mark, potentially damaging your brand reputation and market share.
Protect Your Brand
Don’t risk losing your valuable trademark rights. Renew your registration on time to maintain exclusive ownership and protect your brand’s value.
